GYROKINESIS® Classes

GYROKINESIS® and Yoga are similar in many respects.  They both are total body systems for the mind, body, and spirit.  Like Yoga, each movement in GYROKINESIS® has it’s own specific breath.  To separate the breath from the movement is to not truly practice the essence of either discipline. GYROKINESIS® has a similar effect as Yoga on your overall health, with additional benefits to your metabolism, increased circulation and overall mind, body and spirit health.

However, the physical execution of GYROKINESIS® and Yoga can be quite different. Rhythmically working joints and muscles, the physical practice of GYROKINESIS® tends to resemble that of dance or swimming more closely than it does Yoga.  In fact, GYROKINESIS® has been called “Yoga for Dancers.”  The fluid motions of GYROKINESIS® can be emulated in every day life, and the muscle memory that you will gain will help with aspects in your daily life. In Yoga, the poses are just that, poses. While they help to stretch and strengthen, they do not emulate positions you would use in your everyday life.  With Yoga, the breathing and posing is stationary and helps with balance, whereas with GYROKINESIS® the integration of breath and motion is arguably the most important part the system.

While GYROKINESIS® and Yoga have similarities, they are different modalities, based on two different concepts, with the same mind, body, and spirit goals.
